Space Settlement Design Competition

This event is an industry simulation for teams of High School students, set in the future. The competition is organized with the main motive of teaching industrial skills to students.

The competition renders a virtual experience of working in an Aerospace industry. It provides a complete organizational hierarchy for the students to compete in. The team is asked to propose a design of Space Colonies or Cities where more than 10,000 people live and work.

This is for the fifth time that the Asian Semifinals is being organized. The team winning shall participate in the finals of the ISSDC to be held at the Johnson Space Center, Houston, USA in July, 2009. The International Competition website provides all the information that is helpful for being successful in this competition.

Qualifying Competition teams may be of any size. The eight teams that qualify for the Semi-Finalist Competition will be limited to 12 members each, with two adult advisors. Teams are advised to select members with diverse experiences and/or interests; successful designs balance structural integrity, operating efficiency, use of computers and robotics, and pleasant living conditions.
